Smelling the Roses

Sundays are always so hectic at our house and this Sunday was no exception. All was going well until I looked at the calendar and realized that we had Children's Church. Oops. So we ran like mad to get ready and get to church in time to plan a lesson and activities. You do not want to be unprepared with thirty 3-6 year olds. When we got to church Matthew looked in the bulletin and saw that we did not in fact have Children's Church this Sunday but that I had written it on the calendar wrong. Whew. At least we were on time for Sunday School. I helped in the nursery since there were several volunteers missing. This rarely goes over well with Sullivan. He has a 3 foot radius of happiness most of the time. If I am more than 3 feet away.. he'll scream. Apparently at church that radius shrinks to 2 feet. He played pretty well though, all things considered, and had a good time with Halle Grace and Dru. I know he's going to be sad when they move up to the one year old room next week and leave him behind. Just one more month though and he will be joining all of his BFFs again!

Our church has the most beautiful roses out front. They are truly amazing! I couldn't resist getting his picture made with them.

Touch a Truck

It was another busy weekend for us. Saturday morning Matthew and I tool Sullivan to Touch a Truck. This is the 2nd year for our town's Touch a Truck event and there were all kinds of transportation there from helicopters to limos to tractors to bucket trucks. It wasn't really geared toward Sullivan's age group but there were rumors of a hot air balloon and I wanted to get some cute pictures so off we all went after nap time.

Apparently he still wasn't awake when we got there because the first several pictures I tried to get had the same expression.

It was pretty loud there with all the different horns and sirens going off. Normally loud noises aren't our thing, but he never cried and warmed up very quickly.

There were tons of people there and we saw lots of friends. Sullivan and his friend Dru are almost exactly 1 month apart so we always try to get pictures of them together. Sometimes it works out.. sometimes not so much. I think this one turned out cute.

"Where do you want to go, Dru?"

The event lasted from 9-1 but we stayed less than an hour. It was too windy for the hot air balloon and it was gone before we got there. I was disappointed about that but Sullivan ended up having alot of fun being a people watcher.

Rain Rain

Usually we go to the pool on Fridays with friends, but they were busy today. It was actually nice to not have anywhere to go or anything to do. It looked like rain so we decided not to go to the park and instead played outside at home so we could duck inside in the event of a quick shower.

My Little Helper

A few days ago I decided to make a cleaning schedule for the house. The idea is to do about 30 minutes of cleaning every day. So far it hasn't worked out exactly as planned so I may have to do some tweaking on the chore chart. I did end up getting to dust on Thursday though despite my helper stealing my swiffer duster.

That bottom shelf ended up being very very clean. He played with it for awhile but finally got bored and moved on to bigger and better things. One of his favorite things to do right now is look out the front door and watch the birds. We have two different sets of birds nesting in our front flower bed and they are always coming and going and sometimes fighting. He loves it.
